Flower boxes

1. What materials are available for planters at Plantox Store?

  • Metal planters in lacquered steel (RAL finishes of your choice, various sizes).
  • PVC planters (suitable for indoor and outdoor use).
  • Corten steel planters (highly durable material, natural rusted aesthetic).

2. Why choose a lacquered metal or corten steel planter?

  • Lacquered metal planters offer a robust structure , modern design, and the possibility of finishing in various colors.
  • Corten steel planters stand out for their strength and for having a finish that evolves over time. The Corten category states that "Corten steel is a unique material that combines strength, durability and a distinctive finish with natural rusty tones".
  • Therefore, for outdoor use, corten steel or lacquered steel (properly treated) are recommended options due to their durability and weather resistance.

3. Do the flower boxes have, or could they have, drainage holes?

  • Yes. Both lacquered metal planters and corten steel planters have drainage holes. This is important to prevent water accumulation and promote growth.

4. Which finish should I choose for outdoor use?

  • For outdoor areas, one of the best choices is Corten steel, due to its durability and "industrial/aged" aesthetic effect.
  • If you prefer a metal planter with color and a lacquered finish, that's perfectly valid too, and Plantox Store offers various colors and sizes.

5. How is the Corten steel planter delivered, and how will its appearance evolve?

  • Corten steel is typically delivered with a more grayish tone. This is its initial state before developing the controlled corrosion patina characteristic of Corten.
  • With exposure to the outdoors (rain, humidity, air), the intentional "oxidation" process begins, creating the rusty tone that is part of its charm and functionality.
  • In other words: do not confuse "bad" oxidation With the intentional aging of the Corten steel, it is expected to take on a more "rustic/industrial" appearance over time.

6. What are the maintenance instructions to extend the lifespan of my planter?

  • Check regularly to ensure the drainage is working properly.
  • For lacquered metal surfaces: clean occasionally with cold water and mild soap; avoid harsh products that may damage the lacquer.
  • For Corten steel: allow the natural patination process to occur; if placed in a very calcareous area or with constantly stagnant water, iron particles may detach. Ensure the base allows for water drainage.

7. Can I use PVC planters outdoors?

  • Yes. PVC planters are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Some models include a removable bottom cover that can be used as a drainage hole.
  • This means that while PVC may be less "premium" in style or heavy design concept than Corten steel, it's a valid option for exteriors, especially if you're looking for something lightweight or more affordable.

8. Can I customize the size, color, or finish?

  • Yes. Plantox Store makes planters in various sizes according to customer preference.
  • Therefore, if you have a specific measurement, color, or even bearings in mind, you can request customization.

9. Recommendations for good practices

  • Check if the chosen soil/plant is compatible with the size of the planter.
  • With Corten steel, be prepared for the patina to develop. To achieve the 'rust' tone more quickly, you can use a mixture that accelerates the process. See here .

Natural Grass

1. What is the size of the grass mats? How many should I order?

  • The mats measure 2.5m x 0.40m = 1m2 (each pallet can hold up to 60m2).
  • Average weight per roll: 20kg.
  • You should calculate the area of ​​the space where the grass will be applied. For non-linear areas and due to cuts, we advise purchasing approximately 5% more grass sod.

2. What is the availability of grass?

  • We have Garden Premier and Super Sport grass available year-round.
  • Master's Select grass, being a Bermuda variety, goes dormant in the winter and is not sold between November and March.

3. Is it possible to pick up the order in store?

  • No. The grass goes directly from the production area in Agreste, via transport company, to the entire country.

4. How long does delivery take?

  • After order processing, the estimated delivery time is 3-5 business days.
  • Delivery times in municipalities far from major urban centers may be longer than the estimated delivery period. Plantox reserves the right to cancel any order in case of shipping difficulties.

5. Do you deliver nationwide?

  • Yes. We deliver to mainland Portugal.

6. How is the delivery carried out?

  • The grass is delivered in pallets to the entrance of the residence – on a public road. Access for heavy vehicles must be guaranteed.
  • You will receive a delivery date but no estimated time of arrival.

7. How can I find out more about the installation?

  • After placing your order, you can request our natural grass installation manual via email, where you can follow the installation recommendations.
  • We recommend that, after delivery, the grass be applied immediately in warm weather and, at most, 12 hours after delivery in colder weather.

8. What care do I need to take with my lawn?

Courteous

  • The frequency of cutting should be adjusted according to the time of year and the prevailing weather conditions.

For Garden Premier and Super Sport:

Autumn/Winter
- Between 1 and 2 haircuts per month

Spring/Summer
Between 2 and 4 haircuts per month.

For Master's Select:

Spring/Summer
-Cut up to once a month

Autumn/Winter
-Cut up to once every two months

Irrigation immediately after installation

  • 7 to 15 days of abundant watering (12-15mm), twice a day – always depending on the time of year, rainfall and temperature.

Irrigation throughout the year

  • After the plant has taken root, watering should be reduced. During warm weather, maintain watering twice a day, but for a shorter period. During cold weather, also reduce the number of waterings.

Fertilization

  • It is ideal to fertilize the lawn at the time of installation and 4 weeks after installation.
  • From that time onwards, fertilization should occur between February and June and between October and December.
